31.05.03 15:05   The leaders of over 40 countries, who have arrived to St. Petersburg to celebrate the 300-year anniversary of the city, took part in the opening ceremony of Constantine Palace.

Photographs, lithographs, the portraits of St. Petersburg’s poets, artists, musicians, and politicians, who have made a great contribution to Russia’s history, were shown on the screen opposite the viewer stands. During the ceremony, where the state leaders were present, famous artists, including the Italian tenor, Luciano Povarotti, and the Greek singer, Demis Roussos, performed under the guidance of the director, Andrei Konchalovsky.
The “Anthem to a Great City” in honor of the 300-year anniversary of St. Petersburg in Constantine Palace was played by the famous German group “Scorpions.”
Gliere’s music, a musical symbol of St. Petersburg, was performed at the end of the concert, in which artists from various countries participated. Each singer sang a few lines from the northern capital’s anthem.
