31.05.03 16:15   In honor of the 300-year anniversary of St. Petersburg, President of Russia Vladimir Putin at an official breakfast proposed a toast “to European solidarity, to the well-being of our nations, and to the guests’ health.”

The Russian president expressed his certainty that by working together, the problems in the new century would be resolved. St. Petersburg’s anniversary reflects how closely the peoples of many European countries have cooperated. As an example of how productive this cooperation has been, Vladimir Putin pointed to the joint efforts of Russia and Germany in restoring the Amber Chamber, for which the head of state personally thanked Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder.
